K9 Leak Detection Academy

Building on OHPM's pre-pandemic successful “Paws for Patriots” program, Operation Hope is currently exploring a pioneering initiative to establish an in-facility dog handler training program for inmates. This program would places dogs-in-training under inmate care so upon release, they and their well-trained canine will have exciting careers as leak detection specialists. Leak detection teams make upwards of $1000 per day plus travel deployment in Oklahoma.

K9 Sensus offers a one year online course that retails for $5000 which is outlined at https://www.k9sensus.org/ddta. Operation Hope Prison Ministry's supporters and partners are looking for sponsors, interested wardens, to join us in adapting and pioneering this potential in-prison trade school model.

If you are interested or have advice, please contact Todd Gessele, Executive Director of Operation Hope at toddg@ohpm.org or call 503 348-8652.
